Alright By Sunlight.com is a new site that a (very) sweet reader, Krista, started. Everyone go show her some affection and reassure her she’s a valuable person… as a blog commenter should always do. Her quiche recipe looks interesting… interesting as in to normal people it would be satisfying but would cause me to use the restroom repeatedly until I was defeated by my own body - a punishment for consuming anything that mixes onion, milk, mayo and cheese in one food item.

After telling Caleb I was thinking about starting up a dog-walking service…

This isn’t a new chapter.

It’s a new book.

It’s been almost a decade since I started blogging… I’m not a newbie (like my Mom) coming on the scene because it looks glamorous and trendy. I used to hand-write & code entries in Notepad on my computer and then spend hours uploading them by hand. I know I’m not the only one. I’m not trying to sound elite (I lie, really… there should be some type of recognition for people like me) but this isn’t new to me. And through the years, I’ve changed site names more often than you probably change your panties. My first domain was HeartSugar.com and my most recent was ScribbleHoney.com. The thing is… there are so many memories tied to ScribbleHoney that aren’t tied to me any more… that I don’t want screwing up my life, basically…

The truth is… I got lazy with ScribbleHoney. I made posts that meant nothing to me… posts that were being made to satisfy a handful of faithful, sweet-hearted readers I’ve had for years. Posts like, “Um. So like today… I brushed my hair. Then I threw up because I ate too many donuts. Then I looked for jobs. See ya.” They not only sounded and looked juvenile, but they were so forced… it was disgusting. I had made the blog a part-time job that I would do half-assed. I was so tired of it… the name… the meaning… the archive of posts it held.

So this is me, starting fresh. This is me with a mission for this site to stand out in a hundred different ways (which will reveal themselves over the next week). This is my talent being harnessed in a more mature, reasonable way. More pictures. More videos. More funny stories. More honesty.

I hope (as a new reader) that you love my face off. I hope (as an old reader) that you don’t miss the “old” side of Kalen you so often saw… that you are able to get used to this new format that you’ll see. I think you all have done so well adjusting with me through the years. This is just another one of those.

Now… I have a chihuahua’s belly to scratch and then I’m going to convince Billy (my fiance, new readers) to rub my back… while I watch a chick flick… and eat chocolate-covered marshmallows simultaneously.
